Counselling services

In each area, we work with a number of partners to provide a multi-disciplinary service to the community. Through the Community Based Clinic Trauma Centre provides counselling services to adults 18 +. This service offering includes individual counselling, but we also provide therapeutic group counselling sessions. In terms of early intervention we provide educational workshops to inform the community of victim’s rights and how to apply for a protection order for example. We also fulfil an advocacy role for our individual clients, to ensure that victims are safe and get the services to which they are entitled and that justice is ultimately served.

Advocacy

The Trauma Centre is a member of the South African Coalition for Transitional Justice (SACTJ). The Coalition advocates for the implementation of the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in terms of paying out reparations to victims and to prosecute those who did not get amnesty.
